For the Santa in all of us, here are some gift-giving ideas, curated by Dish Our Town, for the traveler in you and the traveler in your life:
Yoku Moku Cookies from Japan
What kid doesn’t enjoy a good cookie. These delectations from Yoku Moku are more than just any ordinary cookies, they are simply the best and are the perfect Christmas gift for that special kid in your life. The tins are collectible, help them start their collection this year and for years to come.
Rick Steves’ European Christmas
For Christmas, there are few visuals that inspire travel more than this book and if you are an Amazon Prime Member, you can watch it on Prime video for free.
Uno Cards
It is almost a requirement to have a new set of Uno Cards before any vacation. No family can do without. If you have never played, trust me, it’s hours of fun on the beach, next to a fire, or gathered on the bed in your hotel room. It’s perfect for any travel-loving family.
Trtl Travel Pillow
Brenda used The Trtl Travel Pillow in pink for the first time, on our way to Rome from NYC during our Christmas trip to Rome and Umbria and has traveled with it in cars, trains, and buses ever since. It’s definitely the most comfortable pillow she’s ever used.
My Travel Journal for kids
For Christmas, be different and go old school on the kid(s), forego all the digital stuff and hand them something that every kid should have during their travels, a journal. This one is specifically made for kids 10-15 years of age when they look back years from now, they will thank you for the priceless memories.
Coolife Luggage
We recently purchased this set of luggage for the 3 of us to travel with to Italy and it was so lightweight and durable. We also love it in this color. For the price, it’s really a steal!
Sockwell Chevron Graduated Compression Socks
We do not travel without our compression socks these days and these Sockwell Chevron Socks are also fashionable.
Eton Hand-crank radio/flashlight
This was a gift we received one Christmas from Brenda’s sister and we’ve treasured it since, not only for travel but to have around the house as well. It’s also quite a beautifully designed object.
Muji Photo Albums
For those who still like to print and save, here is a photo album that Brenda uses for our printed photos. We love it because it is plain and sleek.
Not for Parent’s Guide Books for Kids By Lonely Planet
2012 was the last time, we as a family went to Paris . Bailey was just 8. We purchased this book for her so she can have some input as to where to go and what to see. She had it with her constantly, studied it, and made sure we hit all the sights mentioned in the book. Which we did. If you are planning a trip to Paris soon, and you want your child(ren) to have a say with the sightseeing itinerary, think about putting this in the stocking. It surely added to our trip and experience and I’m sure it will yours.
We’ve also since bought all the other city series we’ve traveled to.
Travel Stub Diary
As parents, few things are more special than keepsakes that remind us of our children. Some of the best moments of our lives are when we travel with our child, and every once in a while we like to look and read things that help us remember those wonderful memories. Years from now, it’s our children that are going to want to remember those moments with us. Keep your stubs, write about your journey, and remind this and the generations to come, the joys that come with travel. A great gift for every member of the family.
Muji Pens
Bailey and Brenda love these pens. I love to use them as well. I think they are the perfect ballpoint, nice to the hand, and comes in great colors. A nice addition to give that journal-writing person.
GO PRO HERO
As for capturing moments, life has never been the same since purchasing one of these. They come in many models and many price points. I think this starter price point version is a great gift for that novice videographer (maybe the tween or teenager in your life).
GoPro HERO5 Black — Waterproof Digital Action Camera for Travel with Touch Screen 4K HD Video 12MP Photos $263.99
